FILES DELIVERY RECOMMENDATIONS / FAQ

What is a mix?

Mixing, in theory, is a process where we combine all the recorded tracks of a song into one stereo file.

The reality is more complex and during the mix we work with frequencies, dynamics, volume levels, space, panning or adding effects (e.g. delay, reverb) – but remember that often less is more.

All these treatments have one goal – to make your music sound better!

How do I prepare the tracks for the mix and in what format should I send the file(s)?
  1. Export all tracks separately, export the tracks from the beginning of the session, export the tracks in 24-bit/44.1kHz WAV format (or the sample rate you recorded at), then make sure that normalization and dithering are turned off during export, and make sure you have turned off all plug-ins from the mix bus (especially make sure to exclude all limiters and clippers from the master mix).
  2. Please remove all EQ and any compression before exporting individual tracks, unless it is for production purposes only.
If you find something sounds weird after removing the effects/compression, or doesn’t sound the way you intended, you can leave it.
If possible, try to keep effects such as reverb and delay separate – e.g. if you have a vocal with a delay effect, you export the vocal and the delay effect separately – thanks to this separation we have a vocal control and a separate delay effect control.

  3. If you are not sure whether to leave effects, you can send us two folders, which will be divided into “basic tracks” and “additional tracks”.
    How to prepare it?
*In the “basic tracks” folder you will put all the tracks that you think make up the song as a whole and you would like the song to sound like that when it comes to productions.
You can include raw/dry tracks with your effects separated, or effects tracks without their separation (if you think it works), tracks may include your automation etc, but remember to avoid exporting tracks with compression if it is not for production purposes.
*In the “additional tracks” folder, you will only put those tracks that you are not sure about and would like us to have a different version of these tracks to choose from (e.g. you have a bass with some effect and you are not sure about this track – it is in the “additional tracks” folder that you put raw/dry version of this bass).
We recommend that vocals always be divided into two folders so that we have access to raw/dry vocals as well as vocals with your effects.
It will be best if you export the raw/dry vocals separately and the effects (effects sends) of these vocals separately, of course keeping the proportions and settings you used during production so as not to lose your artistic vision.

  4. If you want us to mix alternative/other versions of your song (e.g. extended version, instrumental version) select “Alternate Mixes Versions” during the order (this is additionally payable).
How to prepare the tracks when the song is to have different versions (e.g. original/radio version and extended versions?
In this case, we recommend (if it is foreseeable) to plan the project logistically at the initial stage of composition/production, because we want you to send us a separate folder with only those tracks that relate to the alternative/other version and which we can easily join the main mix tracks.
We want to avoid a situation where we have to move the tracks and create extended versions – that’s a job for the producer.

  5. We ask that each individual path has a name appropriate to its content.
    For example: vocal_lead main, vocal_double , vocal_delay1, bass, guitar_solo, etc.
Please avoid names like: xxx, no name, audio 03, audio 07

  6. IMPORTANT – Track Time Alignment – Read this if your song has more than one vocal track!
In case the song has more than one vocal track, please make sure that all tracks/doubles/voices are aligned in time (so-called Timing in music).
We do not time-align vocals/doubles/instruments during a mix session.
If you place an order and provide us with unaligned vocal tracks (or any other instrumental tracks), you run the risk that we will not start the mixing process and we will have to wait for the aligned tracks from you, which in turn will delay the delivery of the finished mix to you.
*If you need us to time-align vocal/instrument tracks please send us a separate email saying you want to place an order for track alignment.
The valuation of such an order is always individual and depends on the number and length of tracks.

Therefore, before purchasing services, carefully check your materials, make sure that you have done everything correctly

Before purchasing services, you can send us an e-mail with your material so that we can check it. If you place an order and make a payment without consulting the material, and we decide that we cannot perform the service, the order will simply be canceled and you will receive your money back.

* Track Processing Service
We implemented the track processing service through our analog devices because this process can stimulate creativity, give a new quality and value to your recordings. You can place an order to run your synthesizer part through our Manley Massive Passive mastering EQs - your synth will get that extra tube analog warmth, character and quality that's not easy to get "in the box". This is just one of the options - creativity has no limits!
